POSITION OPENING:  EDUCATION CURATOR.  Amherst Museum, a department of the
Town of Amherst, New York, seeks a dynamic and creative individual to manage,
develop, implement and upgrade educational and public programming for this
rapidly evolving mid-sized local history museum with extensive collections of
material culture and 10 restored 19th-century buildings.

The Education Curator supervises tours for over 3,000 school children, makes
off-site presentations, and coordinates other adult and child programming.
 The position is responsible for training and supervising education
department staff and for volunteer recruitment, training, management and
supervision.  Must be self-motivating, have strong communication, planning,
and organizational skills.  Excellent oral, public speaking, written and
interpersonal skills are required.

Qualified candidates will possess a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in
education, museum studies, or related fields and three years of experience in
museum educational programming.  Previous supervisory experience within a
museum setting is essential.  Salary range is $22,360 - $28,974 DOQ with
