"Family Friendly" policies at my museum, The Virginia Discovery
Museum, include (for personnel) part-time professional
positions, flexible working hours, and use of sick leave to
care for other family members when they are ill. As a part-time
professional employee and mother of two, it's great to be able
to say "sorry, my child-care arrangment for this afternoon fell
through so I'm leaving, and will come in tomorrow instead" and
have my director say "fine, just tell the front desk."
 
We also have family-friendly membership policies, which include
grandparents and regular babysitters under a family membership,
and a flexible definition of "family".
 
Supporting families is part of our mission statement.
