The Senate today took up the Interior appropriations bill, which contains
funding for IMS, NEH and NEA, but it recessed without taking action.  The
Senate is expected to resume consideration of the bill on Monday, but
no votes are expected 'til Tuesday.

We expect the Senate to consider an amendment or amendments to restore
eight or ten million dollars of NEH funding and to increase NEA funding
by perhaps two million dollars.

The Senate is supposed to work next week on the Commerce-Justice-State
bill, which contains funding for the TIIAP program.  We are working to
get it to approve an amendment to restore funding to current level of
$21.5 million.
