I've been following this discussion for quite a while without realizing
what List it's been happening.  The original poster might want to post
it to Archives List where it will undoubtedly bring a large number of
replies. If the original poster would like to contact me I can provide
address info.
 
Additionally, anyone interested in this topic should obtain a copy
of Teaching with Documents: Using Primary Sources from the National
Archives.  It's 241 pages and cost $15.00 when it was originally
published in 1989 by the National Archives Trust Fund Board.  I don't
know if it is still in print but it should be available through interlibrary
loan.
