The Atchison County Historical Society has items from a local shoe shop
available to GIVE to another museum who could use it in their
collections.

The item is very large, and was used from around 1920 through the 1960s
and parts may be older than that. It is the shoe shop sewing (needle
still works and goes through thick leather like it was paper) and the
other shining, shaping, etc. tools used in a shoe shop.

It still has the electric motor attached (with a wooden pulley fitting
that is a fine piece of craftsmanship) as well as the gears and drive
shaft (drive shaft not attached to full unit) and is in two sections.
The first section is about 9 feet long and the second about 5 feet long.
It stands about 4 feet tall (standing working height) and weighs ?????.

We have offered this item to the adjacent historical society which
operates a number of buildings and to the Kansas State Historical
Society previously. The declined because of the size in comparison to
their possible exhibition and storage space.

Those are the same reasons we are looking for a new home for this unique
item.

The Board of Directors of the Atchison County Historical Society has
already approved the item for deaccession and disposal with a museum as
the optimum choice for disposal.

If you have any interest please contact me.
We will donate the item to the first legitimate new home but you have to
arrange for moving it.
