I also have a fairly mixed collection.  Past Perfect is great at
documents, photos, books, art, and history/archaology collections, but
it is a bit of a stretch to fit the natural history collections.  I have
been able to make it work by "Specimen" in the various subcategorizes of
"T&E for Science and Technology" and using genus and species in the
"Other Name" field.  If I had a larger natural history collection, I
would probably use different collection names and create user defined
fields for the scientific names.
