Your friend might research the exhibit "Chiefly Feasts: The Enduring
Kwakuitl Potlatch" curated by Aldona Jonaitis, I believe for the Am. Museum
of Natural History. The accompanying book by the same title is a gem, both
the visuals and text. The exhibit had two sets of labels, one written by the
museum staff and the other by elders of the Native group. The reviews and
scholarly articles following the exhibit would also be great sources for
analysis.
