Special Projects Historian: The Missouri Historical Society seeks a
full-time qualified individual to conduct historical research, analysis,
and writing for exhibit interpretation. Duties include: Serving on
exhibit development teams and ensuring the integration of interpretation
with all project goals; writing interpretive outlines, labels, and
catalog text for assigned exhibits; preparing and writing grant
proposals for exhibitions; developing historical content for and writing
audio-video and computer scripts, brochures, audio guides, background
material for press releases and feature articles. Also, serve on
committees as assigned, hire and supervise interns, volunteers,
researchers, and consultants. Serve as MHS representative on advisory
committees with collaborating institutions, and with borrowing and
lending museums. The successful candidate should hold at least an M.A.
in American History, or other humanities discipline, knowledge of St.
Louis and Missouri history, and have 2 years experience in exhibit
research and interpretation for urban history projects. Good
organizational skills, and the ability to work with a team are
essential. Salary commensurate with experience. Excellent benefits.
