"Collections: A Journal for Museum and Archives Professionals" a
publication of AltaMira Press is seeking manuscript proposals for an
upcoming issue. The issue will deal with archival/manuscript
collections in museums. The topic of interest is how the ideologies and
realities of processing archives in a museum context are defined. Are
these collections treated like traditional archives or are they treated
like traditional museum collections, or are they an entirely different
thing altogether? What are the needs of an archival/manuscript
collection in a museum setting? What kind of material does one find
here, is it different than in a strictly archival repository?

The proposals/paper must deal with the above mentioned issues as well as
answering several questions. How are these unique but important
collections treated within museums? How are these collections viewed by
traditional archivists? What are the similarities and differences
between museum, archive and library collections and their processing?

Papers need to be an average 25 manuscript pages. Case studies may be
used.

You are invited to submit a manuscript proposal for consideration to be
included in "Collections." The issue of "Collections" will be published
in November 2006. All proposals/submissions for consideration must be
submitted by October 17, 2005. All final manuscripts must be completed
by June 15, 2006.
