In 1993, Bishop Museum sent out summary letters to several Native
American groups using the list of tribes then available. Since we have
so little that is from Native American (North American) groups, we have
not kept up with tribal listings, nor do we deal with the cultural groupings
involved. This is only the second North American response. SO...we would
appreciate advice from those who are more familiar with the groups.

We have received a response to one of the summary letters and want to know
if anyone is aware of competing groups for the Michigan area. We would
then send copies of our response to all parties. The material(stone
tools) was accessioned in 1921 as "Michigan" "Mound Builders?" and came
to recorded as from Southeast Michigan and Stockbridge, Michigan. The
inquiry is from the Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa & Chippewa.

Your responses would be most appreciated.
