        It is definitely in your best interest to contact the State
Historical Society of Iowa, located in Des Moines.  I do not have the
telephone # at my desk, but it should be readily available by the usual
search methods.  Contact persons who might best aid your search would be
Bill Johnson or Michael Smith (both are curators, and very knowledgable
about Iowa units serving in the war between the states.)  Good luck and
