Often a virus or worm will "harvest" or use someone's address book to spread
itself. The person whose address book is used often has no idea.

In addition, a worm/virus can use someone's email address as a screen,
without the person's knowledge. I've been getting messages from
institutional systems that a message from me to various people around the
world contains a virus. They are few and far between, none American, so I
know my address wasn't lifted from one of the lists to which I subscribe.

My point: some of you may have been harvested in one way or another, perhaps
a type of "identity theft." It is a good idea to check with the person that
supposedly originated the infected message to see if the person was
harvested. I think this list cannot be infected without intent since all
messages must be confirmed by the sender. A person would have to send the
infected message and then confirm it to get it to the members. It would have
to be a purposeful act of saboutage.

Cheers,
Loretta Lorance
