Collection, Use, and Care of Historical Photographs published by AASLH is one as is Care and Identification of 19th Century Photographic prints by James M. Reilly and published by Kodak is another good source

Does anyone know of a good resource book for dating 19th century photography that includes both a time line for photography techniques (ambrotypes, tintypes, etc.) and one for costume, hair, and collar styles?
