Lauren,

Feel free to contact me off listserv as we have quite a few offerings in
languages other than English.

Thanks,
Ann

Subject: [MUSEUM-L] Research Paper on Languages in Museums

Hi Listservers!

I am a first year graduate student in the University of Kansas, Museum
Studies program, and am writing about language as a barrier in museums.
If you have time, I would appreciate answers to any of the questions
below if they are applicable to you or your institution.

1.) What resources do you or your museum offer for Non-English speakers?
(Labels, audio tours, etc)

2.) Do you feel your exhibit labels are written as to be accessible to
all English speakers?

3.) Do you or your institution place a high value on having language
resources other than English?

4.) Are your bilingual/multilingual efforts reaching the audiences they
are intended for?

5.) If your institution does not offer resources in languages other than
English, can you briefly explain why not?

6.) Any other comments or statistics that you think are relevant or
helpful!

Thank you so much for your time!

Lauren Taylor
