What about the third possibility which means using a glass box with
the sign "Donations Appreciated"? Like this suggestions concerning the
amount are visible and sort of self-defined by the visitors.
I've seen this solution quite often and another observation (and self-
experience...) is that kids seem to love the glass ones and the possibility
to watch how and where the own donation is falling into it which can
have an influence on the productivity of the box... ; )
