The following message is being posted to several lists;
apologies for any duplicate copies you may receive as a result.

Colleagues,

The Getty Art History Information Program will repeat its
sponsorship of the National Information Infrastructure (NII)
Awards program in 1996. The NII Awards recognize innovation
and excellence in use of the "Information Highway," spotlighting
projects that demonstrate the power and potential of networked,
interactive communications.

AHIP sponsors the NII Awards in order to encourage broader
participation by the cultural heritage community in the
competition. You can help give the arts and humanities a
higher profile in this year's awards by contacting the webmaster
at your favorite site and suggesting that he or she submit an
entry.

Awards are offered in 10 categories: Arts & Entertainment,
Business, Children, Community, Education, Global Next
Generation, Government, Health, Public Access, and
Telecollaboration.

Winners will be honored at a special ceremony in Fall 1996,
and featured in an international education and awareness
campaign in the major news media. All entrants will be
featured in an international database of noteworthy web
projects.

The final deadline for entries in the 1996 competition is May 1,
1996. There is no fee to enter; entry forms are submitted
electronically, via e-mail or over the web. The web address for
the 1996 NII Awards is <http://www.gii-awards.com/>.

Thank you for your help in extending recognition to important
networking efforts in the arts and humanities.
