Hello,
Here are some pumpkin and historic gardening leads. There is an excellent book out about heirloom vegetables
by Williams Woys Weaver. Also, there is an author by the name of Charles B. Heiser, Jr. who does books on
plant "histories" with University of Oklahoma Press. I believe he has a book on gourds which includes a
section on pumpkins.

Finally, about historic gardening, there is a woman named Kathleen McClelland from Mt. Vernon, WA who used to
publish a nice little newsletter called "The Historical Gardener." She no longer publishes, but if she has a
back run that she will photocopy and sell, it would be worth getting a hold of those simply for the contacts
in so many gardening areas and specialties. There might even have been something on pumpkins. This is the
contact information I had for her several years ago: 1910 North 35th Place, Mt. Vernon, WA 98273-8931; phone
360-424-3154.
Good luck,
Nancy Sorrells
independent historian
