Since many of you have brochures and such for visitors
who are people with disabilities, I thought it might
be a good idea for you to have the new symbols that
have been decided upon for international access.

The National Endowments for the Arts funded the
development of a new International Symbol of
Accessibility. It was developed by the Graphic Artists
Guild. Informal guidance from the US Department of
Justice indicates that they consider the symbol to
provide equivalent facilitation under 4.30.7
Symbols of Accessibility (ADAAG 1991).

This new symbol depicts a person leaning forward in a
wheelchair with arms poised to push the wheels.

The Symbol of Accessibility
