The best way i have hung them was using the wide Velcro:

It spreads out the pressure on the quilt and adds ease to the actual
placement in an exhibit.

You can attach the Velcro to the muslin with a machine before attaching
it to the quilt by hand.

The attachment of the velcro is similar in stitching to adding a tube
for a bar if that is your preferred method. The most important thing is
that the quilt is very strong if you are not mounting it on any sort of
slant board.  The threads will definitely get pulled, and the stitching
has to be able to keep the fabric from puckering and warping.
