Lead Domestic Interpreter:
Responsible for day-to-day oversight of interpretive staff in domestic exhibit areas of a 1870s-1880s living history museum. Will assist in development, implementation, training, and supervision of interpretive activities that provide a historically based experience for museum visitors in area of specialty. Participates in an interpretive role on a daily basis, and models interpretive technique and best practice for other staff in domestic area. Assists staff and volunteer interpreters with demonstrations and activities including foodways, clothing, textile arts, heirloom gardening, and other “domestic sphere” activities. Responsible for daily activity and staff scheduling in domestic areas. Will take the lead in the acquisition, production, approval, and inventory of period clothing for paid and volunteer interpretive staff, and assist the director of interpretation in setting overall historic clothing policy.  May be called on assist with 1880 farm operation and interpretation, special events, and educational programming as required. This will be a year-round position with salary in the mid-20s plus benefits (based upon experience/training). B.A. in history or related subject and some combination of 2+ years of management, living history, reenactment, costume, or museum experience preferred.
