IUPUI Museum Studies will be graduating its first two MA's this May. (I'm one) The faculty are knowledgeable, cooperation between the Museum Studies, Herron School of Art and Public History programs affords many options of focus - Museum Administration, Collections Care and Management, and Exhibit Planning and Design. There is also a new approach in educating future professionals by collaborating with the community through the faculty sharing program called Public Scholars. My 3 internships, all at local institutions, were varied and provided a great deal of insight to the "realities" of the museum world versus "by the book" learning.

A side note, one thing I think all graduates and museum professionals should keep in mind, what is considered "best practice" is not always possible given restrictions on funding and cooperation between staff/board.

Good luck in your pursuit!

Also, IUPUI now offers a Museum Studies MA. They still have their
Public History program as well.

It wasn't expensive, since they gave me an 80% tuition waiver plus a paid internship for both years -- the cost of living is also pretty low. The faculty is very supportive, and Indianapolis has some wonderful museums that partner with the program. Class size is very small, so you really get to know the faculty and other students.

Some decided that they would go into Historic Preservation, and wound up with very good jobs in that field.
