My museum studies internship was actually in a university library special
collections where i was paid minimum wage.  I had a parttime job as well so
that I could take a month in the middle of the summer to work with a
intensive summer program in a barter arrangement - I worked for them in
exchange for being able to complete the program.  I earned enough to get by
though I did end up with a cash flow problem.
