|  MAJOR DUTIES: The incumbent is responsible for the Museum's                         |
|  holdings of audio and video testimonies, moving images, sound                       |
|  recordings, 3-dimensional artifacts, manuscripts, and                               |
|  microforms and photographic collections. Carries out all                            |
|  processes related to the accessioning of collections into                           |
|  legal and physical custody of the Museum. Coordinates incoming                      |
|  and outgoing loan processes ensuring proper insurance coverage                      |
|  is obtained for all items loaned or borrowed from the Museum's                      |
|  permanent collections. Oversees the physical tracking of all                        |
|  collection items through electronic and manual systems. In                          |
|  coordination with the Collections Manager, the incumbent                            |
|  manages the transportation arrangements, including domestic                         |
|  and international to include customs clearances and risk                            |
|  coverage. Develops, implements, and enforces Museum procedures                      |
|  and practices relating to access, handling, and storage of                          |
|  collection items. Provides guidance and assistance to junior                        |
|  registrars, technicians, interns, and volunteers.                                   |

|  QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: At the GS-11 grade level,                               |
|  applicant must possess one-year of specialized experience                           |
|  equivalent to the GS-9 grade level or 3 full academic years of                      |
|  progressively higher graduate level education or a Ph.D. or                         |
|  equivalent degree related to the position.                                          |
|                                                                                      |
|  Specialized experience is experience related to the operation                       |
|  or management of a museum or similar collection of valuable                         |
|  objects.  Examples of qualifying experience include collection                      |
|  management, registration, cataloging, conservation, research,                       |
|  preservation, restoration, or conservation of collections of                        |
|  museum material, or other experience related to the position.                       |

|  BASIS FOR RATING: Ratings will be based on an evaluation of your                    |
|  experience as it relates to the qualification requirements and on                   |
|  abilities (KSAs) listed.  You should provide detailed evidence and                  |

|  of accomplishment and degree of responsibility.  Qualified candidates               |
|  will be assigned a score between 70 and 100, not including points                   |
|  that may be assigned for veteran's preference.                                      |

|  objects of the museum and archive disciplines, knowledge of                         |
|  the agents of deterioration that can affect collections,                            |

|  for archival and museum cataloging and registration.                                |

|  5) Ability to write and communicate verbally to effectively                         |
|  report and make presentations on treatments, activities,                            |
