Mrs. Laura Bush to Present Top Library and Museum Awards at January 8th
White House Ceremony

Institutions in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Nebraska, North Carolina,
and Texas To Be Honored

Washington, DC--Mrs. Laura Bush will present the 2006 National Awards
for Museum and Library Service to three libraries and three museums in a
White House ceremony on Monday, January 8th. The awards are conferred
annually by the Institute of Museum and Library Services. 

"These outstanding museums and libraries exemplify great community
service," said Mrs. Laura Bush. "They lead efforts to promote literacy,
science education, environmental conservation, and good health. Like
many libraries and museums around the country, these six have made
themselves indispensable to the communities they serve."

OPEN PRESS: Pre-set will be at 8:00 a.m. Final access will be at 9:50
a.m. Members of the press who do not have a White House press credential
must fax their names (as it appears on driver's license), Social
Security number and date of birth on company letterhead to (202)
