Subject: RE: Case Law on Deaccessions (fwd)

Patrick:
You are correct. There are two cases involving the George F.
Harding Museum in which members of the board of directors of the museum
decided to sell pieces of the museum collections at an auction to pay some
museum debts. The Attorney General intervened and obtained a court order to
prevent the auction. The two cases involving this museum were published.
The citations are: Scott v. Silverstein, 418 N.E.2d 1087 (l978) and George
F. Harding Museum, 374 N.E.2d 756 (1981).
        Happy holidays!
