I recommend checking with your local community colleges and universities
in their fine art or constructions trade classes, and any city or
regional sponsored Park & Rec arts & crafts programs.

Also, the Building Education Center in west Berkeley is a non-profit
construction trades classes for individuals and offers hands-on
workshops with various power tools and other issues, including codes and
environmentally sound housing materials.
