In the arena of salaries, you are right on, but the majority of teachers are women and are able to make great salaries (for this particular field). However, administration in the school system is usually held by men and those are higher paying jobs in general.

The teaching industry is the "low man on the totem pole" in regards to salary and value, in general. While we all believe education is important, we are just starting to realize that K-12 is more important than a college degree. We just have to keep doiung our best and keep educating the world about the role of K-12 education.
