Thank you very much for the info.  we would love to be able to do all that you
mentioned, but this is a small museum and the finances are not available for
all of that, at this time.  We just try to do the best we possibly can w/ what
we have and can afford.  That is why we are simply trying to find out about
the heat and light.... in order to determine if scanning is even a viable
means of reproducing the photo for records purposes or not.
