POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
 Director of Development


The recently expanded and renovated Museum of Photographic Arts is seeking
a dynamic individual for the position of Director of Development, with
responsibility for coordinating all aspects of the Museum's annual
operating and endowment campaigns.  This position reports to, and works
closely with, the Museum Director.

RESPONSIBILITIES: The Director of Development creates, plans and implements
the fundraising campaign to raise the Museum's annual operating budget of
$1.8 million and build the institutional endowment; coordinates and
supervises grant-writing, special events, and membership staff; researches,
cultivates and solicits major gifts for exhibition underwriting, special
projects, education programs, individual and corporate memberships; serves
as liaison with the Board of Trustees for all development-related
committees and fundraising activities, provides assistance securing
Trustees' annual gifts, facilitates Trustee solicitations of contributions;
participates in all Board of Trustees and Executive Committee meetings;
participates in the budget planning process; represents the Museum in the
philanthropic community at a variety of functions and among professional
colleagues.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Ten years progressive Development experience;
proven record of success creating, planning, implementing, and managing
fundraising strategies and campaigns; the successful candidate must be a
skilled team leader, highly organized, motivated, self-directed,
enthusiastic, flexible, creative, capable of managing multiple requirements
simultaneously; with good supervisory and attention-to-detail skills; an
aggressive, seasoned professional with highly-persuasive interpersonal
talents.

COMPENSATION: As a full-time employee, the Director of Development will be
provided with a health/dental/vision insurance plan; an option to
participate in an employee-funded 403B retirement plan through payroll
deductions; Museum identification which provides free admission to all
Balboa Park museums and cultural organizations; museum store discount.
Salary commensurate with credentials and experience.
