I have not read it yet, but I hear that "Memoirs of a Geisha," a work of
fiction written by a white American male, father of 2, is an extremely
convincing "first person" memoir of a fictional Japanes woman. It took him
9 years to write the book-most people don't have that kind of time for
research. But it seems that it is possible, with a great deal of will, to
get inside an "other's" skin or head.
