Hi Deb,

I've been researching stockings, but not socks. The DAR museum
in Washington DC has a pair of Thomas Jefferson's slipper socks.
They're very short, more like a 20thC woman's athletic "footie".
Other collections with stockings are the Boston Museum of Fine Arts,
the Museum of the City of New York, and the Valentine Museum in
Richmond, VA. They have large stocking collections which may include
socks.
