Dear colleagues,

We are an Alaskan Museum tackling its "No Provenance/Old Loan/found in collection" collection.

As far as my research goes, I found that our Museum is regulated by the Alaska Stat. ยง 14.57.210. Acquisition of title to undocumented property.
My co-worker tells me that this only applies to archaeological and ethnic artifacts since it was created under the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act.

Is anyone aware of another law that deals with this issue? and particularly with historical items?

Thanks to all for reading!

Ingrid Martis
Collections Manager
