I've had good luck with Sebo vacuums and Miele in historic homes also the
Electrolux "Oxygen" is well reviewed and should be in your price range as
well, all have HEPA filters (the Electrolux is apparently a washable HEPA
filter therefore reusable and cheaper as the bags and filters can add up in
cost over time).
