Suzanne Quigley requested info on computer use policies and the first
thing that popped into my mind is the MITRE report.
For those not familiar with it, 10 instutions got together with the MITRE
Corporation (McLean, VA) and wrotean analysis and recommendations for
computing.
Cooley, G.P. et al 1993. Analysis and recommendations for Scientific
Computing and Collections Information Management of Free-Standing Museums
of Natural History and Botanical Gardens. Volumes 1 & 2. The MITRE Corp.

The report should be available from any museum library, although you will
definitely find copies at the libraries of the participating institutions.
They include: The Academy of Natural Sciences, American Museum of Natural
History, Bishop Museum, California Academy of Sciences, Carnegie Museum
of Natural History, Natural History Museum of LA County, Missouri Bot
Gardens, NY Bot Garden, Field Museum of Natural History and the National
Museum of Natural History.
