There's still time to register for the upcoming Traveling Exhibition
Workshop being held in conjunction with the Mid-Atlantic Association of
Museums on Saturday, October 11, 2003 from 1.00 - 5.00pm at the Hilton
Gateway Hotel in Newark, NJ. (The hotel is conveniently located across the
street from the Path and NJ Transit train station.)

Workshop Description:

Traveling exhibitions are an excellent way for museums to attract diverse
audiences, advance their mission, and contribute to earned income. They
require wide-ranging collaborations internally for the organizing museum and
in partnerships with venues taking exhibitions. Learn how to launch or host
a single traveling exhibition or to develop a traveling exhibition program.
Review the nuts-and-bolts of planning, budgeting, registration, funding, and
marketing. Presentations will include material from the AAM publication, On
the Road Again: Developing and Managing the Traveling Exhibition, by
Rebecca Buck and Jean Gilmore, and updates on recent changes and
developments of traveling exhibitions in challenging times. The workshop fee
of $35.00 includes numerous hand-outs and resource information.

Presenters Rebecca Buck, Chief Registrar at the Newark Museum; Deirdre
Scott, Curator and Manager of Technology and Digital Media at the Studio
Museum in Harlem, and Geri Thomas, President, Thomas & Associates, NY, look
forward to seeing you at the workshop. To register go to
wwww.midatlanticmuseums.org, or call 410.223.1194
