I am posting this to the list since it may have a more
          general appeal.

Laura Phillips had requested a source for curation-quality
ink. The #10 issue of Curation Newsletter (published by the
American Society of Ichthyologists and Herpetologists) has
an article by Jeff Williams concerning one source. The
          address is: Charles Chapman
                           Automated Office Products, Inc.
9700-A Martin Luther King, Jr. Hwy.
                           Lanham, MD 20706
                           Ph.: 800-673-8553

The Smithsonian, California Academy of Sciences, and others
have been using these ribbons for several years and are
quite happy with their performance. The quality control is
sometimes spotty, but if you get a cartridge that bleeds,
just send it back and they will replace it. I do not
believe that they have a complete selection of printer
ribbons, but if you send them a minimum of six used
cartridges, they can re-ink them. The labels produced with
these ribbons on our old EPSON LQ-1500 can go right into 70%
          ethanol without any bleeding.
