This is an exhibition of folk art -- folk costumes,
embroidered shirts, and woven and embroidered
textiles -- mainly from Uhryniv, a village in the
Sokal region of Ukraine. Entitled "The Preservation
 of a Heritage. The village of Uhryniv of the Sokal
Region", the exhibit will also feature pysanky,
Ukrainian Easter eggs, showing the regional designs.
It will be on view through March 1998.

The exhibition is comprised of objects, mainly from
the folk art collection of Iryna Kashubynsky, a native
of Uhryniv. It is supplemented by objects borrowed
from the Ukrainian Diocesan Museum and Library in
Stamford, CT., and from the Museum's Folk Art
collection. The time span embraced by the exhibit
is approximately the middle of the nineteenth to
the middle of the twentieth centuries.
