IMLS Seeks Applications for Save America's Treasures Program
Washington, DC- The Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) is
seeking applicants for the Save America's Treasures (SAT) grant program.
These grants, totaling $14 million in 2010, support the preservation and
conservation of nationally significant intellectual and cultural
artifacts such as collections, documents, sculpture, and art, and
historic structures and sites. IMLS partners on the project with the
President's Committee on the Arts and the Humanities, the National Park
Service, the National Endowment for the Arts, and the National Endowment
for the Humanities. Complete guidelines, applications, and information

applications is May 21, 2010.
In 2010, grant amounts range from $25,000 to $700,000 for collections
and from $125,000 to $700,000 for historic property and sites projects.
All the awards must be matched 1:1. Eligible applicants include
nonprofit, tax-exempt 501(c), U.S. organizations, units of state or
local government, and federally recognized Indian Tribes.
Over the last decade, SAT grants have been used to conserve a tapestry
of historic and cultural achievements of the United States and its
citizens. From 1999-2009, $293.7 million in competitive awards have
empowered a citizen-driven preservation effort that has exceeded SAT's
dollar-for-dollar match to the tune of $377 million in non-federal
investment in 1,132 projects. In addition to these funds, the National
Trust for Historic Preservation, the program's principal private
partner, has raised another $57 million for SAT projects.
The Save America's Treasures program accepts online applications through
www.grants.gov, the federal online grantmaking portal. Paper
applications will not be accepted. For general information contact
