Have stayed completely out of this discussion thread, but do have some
new insight to potentially offer.

On Third Age today, there is a website called the Salary Zone.  Have
bookmarked it, but not examined it thoroughly.  It's for HR
Professionals and Job Marketers to give them a feel for what
comparable worth is for any given career.

Don't know if museum jobs are on there, but it might be worth your
