The Association of Midwest Museums is hoping to conduct a survey comparing
non-profit museum salaries to salaries in the for-profit arena.  As
preliminary data, we'd like to know if there are many incidences where
people working in museums have left for the for-profit industry because of
salary, benefits, or both.  Examples of this are special events managers
leaving museums to work as corporate events managers because the salary is
nearly double.
Please email me if you have an example of someone leaving the museum world
for the for-profit world.  Detailed examples will be most helpful.
