Hi all-

I am tossing around a session idea for AAM 2009 in Philly. The idea is based on spaces we have here at Museum of the Earth called Discovery Labs. The labs were created to offer a dynamic space in the Museum where visitors could have a unique learning experience each time they visit the Museum. The objectives of the labs are to increase awareness and interest of the fossil record, how collections are used, how natural history collections are created and cared for, and how to be involved in paleontological research. We have just spent the last few years renovating these labs and feel like we have learned a lot we could share about creating such spaces.

With the theme of the 2009 conference being "The Museum Experiment" I feel like this kind of session really speaks to the ideas of keeping museums real, relevant and responsive.

Anyone interested in joining such a session? Anyone looking for a panelist about this sort of topic?

Thanks,
Samantha
