Shame on you, Mark - why don't you eat it?! In the darkest days of the
Second World War millions of British waited holding their breath listening
out to hear whether the latest ship-load Hormel's SP-iced h-AM, (hence the
name "Spam") had survived it's 4,500 miles journey, including nearly 2,000
miles dodging the N. Atlantic U-Boats, to our shores as part of the USA's
food aid programme, at a time when the fresh meat ration per person was
just a few ounces a week. The Government even printed, distributed and
broadcast on national radio recipes for the imaginative use of this most
treasured American product!
