Dear Museum-L trivia buffs,
A friend of mine is trying to track down a painting she saw several years
ago and has been all over the Web trying to find references to it or even
the image itself. I'd like to ask 2 questions of the art-savvy folks on
this list. (1) Are there any sites on the Web where a person might get help
in searching for paintings with text descriptions or other fragmented
pieces of information? (2) Can anyone on this list identify this painting
from the following description?

"I have in my mind a painting I saw years ago that always captivated me. It
depicts a man chained to a raft in the middle of the ocean. There are sharks
coming toward him, there's a big storm coming from behind, and a ship
(salvation) coming from another direction."

Thanks!
Meg Ropp
