Historian

Shelburne Museum is seeking an American cultural historian.
The successful candidate will work with the education and curatorial
departments as project historian to develop interpretive programs.
The position will be responsible for developing and implementing adult
education initiatives, including guided tours and lectures series.  In
support of the Museum's commitment to providing in-depth training for its
interpretive staff, this position will play a central role in developing
and teaching courses that give historical context to the Museum's extensive
collections.  The position offers a unique opportunity to work in a
stimulating environment, making history accessible to a wide variety of
audiences.  Required:  strong interpersonal skills, excellent teaching and
writing abilities, and interest in working in a fast-paced team
environment.  MA in American history or American Studies with concentration
in 18th- and 19th-century New England material culture, and experience
teaching with material culture required;  PhD preferred.
