"Vintage Fashions" (an out of print magazine) suggests:

For protein stains (milk, egg, blood) soak the item in cold water - hot
water will "cook" the protein - until the stain has softened and lightened a
bit. Soak in a basin or sink, in a solution of 1 gallon of water and 2
tablespoons household ammonia.

For urine stains, a soaking solution of warm water and salt is effective.

Follow with a thorough rinsing, as gently as possible. In my experience with
vintage textiles, sometimes the rinsing is enough. Woolite is also very
gentle and gives a good cleaning, but I have to add, sometimes the garment
has been so dirty for so long, a good cleaning can do it in! The dirt has
been holding it together!
