History Camp 2015 is in Boston on March 28 at the Harriet Tubman House, near mass transit and parking. It’s open to all, but you must register: historycamp2015.eventbrite.com. Two sessions may be of particular interest:

- "Living History: Historic House Museums and the Classroom Teacher: The Age of Medicine and Midwifery" from Patricia Violette, Executive Director of the Shirley-Eustis House

- "Risky Business: Living History Events in Traditional Museums" from Elizabeth Sulock, Manager of Public Outreach and Living History at the Newport Historical Society, and Kirsten Hammerstrom, Director of Collections at the Rhode Island Historical Society

So far, 20 sessions and panels have been planned. The complete list is on the registration page.

Last year's History Camp in Cambridge was the first ever that took an "unconference" approach to history. That year 129 people from Massachusetts, Maine, New York, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Vermont, New Jersey, and beyond attended 23 sessions and two panels.

Liz Covart wrote about her experience and on the format on History News Network: “Nick Kristof Ought to Be Paying Attention to History Camp” (http://historynewsnetwork.org/article/155046)

This is all organized by volunteers with the goal of providing a forum for individuals to come together and exchange information.

You can use this same format for events at your institution or in your area, whether it’s as broad as “history” or more narrowly focused. More information on the format, including an 81-page report on last year’s event is at HistoryCamp.org.
