lessons
history teaches us.

I don't know who originally said that, but I find it immensely appropriate
in these
times. Most of us are Historians. We have an interest in not only
understanding
how things were long ago, but also in bringing that information and clear
understanding into the modern consciousness. I saw an interesting program
the
other day on the History Channel about the US Economy during the 1920s,
leading up to the Great Depression. I wonder how many others who saw that
program noticed that nearly the exact same attitudes (governmental and big
business) as well as a big percentage of economic conditions that were
extant
then, are also existing right now? Seems like no one learned those
lessons...

We have an obligation as Historians to present realities from the past.
