I worked at the Strand for many years and can give you some helpful tips. It's advertised as the largest used bookstore in the world, and the selection of books is staggering. They also carry plenty of publishers' new titles as well, and the prices on both the new and used books are
generally the lowest you'll find.

If you come up with specific titles you are looking for, contact the Strand either by phone (212-473-1452), fax (212-473-2591), email ([log in to unmask]) or regular mail (828 Broadway, NY, NY 10003) and supply them with the title of the book, the author's name and the year it
was published. Any other information you can give them about the book (the publisher, ISBN) is also helpful. They will search the store and let you know which books they have, and they will hold the books for you until you visit the store. If you don't have any specific books you're
looking for and would like some suggestions, when you visit the store walk to the back of the main floor and ask the art department for some suggestions, and they'll help you out. The store is located at 12th Street & Broadway.

Hope this helps too!
