Job Announcement

Archivist Intern

The Fort Bragg Cultural Resources Program seeks an archivist for a
full-time, one-year paid internship to sort, preserve, and protect
historical documents acquired in the purchase of the Rockefeller Overhills
Estate and Land Company. These records contain letters, payroll and
expenditure checks, and other various financial statements, payroll lists,
guest books, architectural plans, and other miscellaneous documents.

Of the approximately 90 linear feet of records, some will be unsalvageable.
However, the vast majority of documents need treatment and care to arrest
further deterioration due to water and light damage, mold, mildew,
corrosion, and dust. Performing this treatment will be the intern's primary
responsibility; a secondary responsibility will include the proper
cataloging of all indexed records in a database.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in archival
preservation and conservation. Undergraduate degree required; MLS graduate
a plus. Knowledge of computers and MS Access software also a plus.

Fort Bragg will fund the internship through the Oak Ridge Institute for
Science and Education (ORISE), a professional fellowship organization.
Applicant must currently be a student or have graduated within the past 3
years to qualify for an ORISE internship. Position open until filled, and
the start date of the internship is flexible.

Salary commensurate with experience. Position includes 13 paid vacation and
13 paid sick days per year.

To apply, mail your CV and letter of intent to:
