Some e-mail cycles ago I averred that I had acquired a hardbound codex of
Miner's report on the Nacirema. A visit to the archives reveals my error. I
refer interested readers to The Weans by Robert Nathan, Alfred A. Knopf, New
York, 1961. "Some of the material in this book appeared earlier in different
form in Harper's Magazine." I am afraid I have conflated Nathan's work with
Miner's, both of which we studied in 9th grade back in 1966.
